R56 Want to bluetooth retrofit my car. Anyone got opinions/experience you can share?
Want to bluetooth retrofit my car. Anyone got opinions/experience you can share?
I have a '11 MCS hardtop. I have the MFSW with the buttons but no phone capabilities. I also have just the AUX jack and not the USB/iPod interface. I want the phone capability and the iPod control. I don't have the fancy nav system in my car, if that matters.
When I look at this:
http://www.bramanautoparts.com/mini-...FbB9OgodVmkAsg
It lists several things. I guess it would help if there were pictures.
Looks like I need:
The cable
Mini Bluetooth retrofit kit
The control module
All of which comes to $762.92
But what about this parrot mki9200 system? It's only ~$200.
Who's got what and can I see some pics? Opinions on these options? Other options available?

Just FYI the Bluetooth only works with phone conversations, and weirdly, some IOS GPS apps for directions, but you cannot stream audio. Also the microphone is just adequate, not great.
The USB is nice for choosing next/previous track but for $700+, I would be hesitant. My last MINI had just aux-in and it worked just fine so long as you use a mount or adapter that allows line-out audio, not using the headphone jack. Also remember the USB only allows iPod/iPhone control - not Android.

This is a spring/summer thing. I need tires first.

I have heard good things about the Parrot Neo. Was thinking of trying one. I have a cheaper Non-Parrot model that allows me to just answer the phone that is in my briefcase.
Never occurred to me that I could not Bluetooth a phone to the Mini seeing the cheap phone (Metro PCS) worked Bluetooth in my Toyota.
I have the Mini S Coupe with all the options, NAV, Harmon Kardon Stereo and Mini Connect.
I don't need a phone just the wife calls me as I work late and commute is long. So these devices are great. Leave phone in briefcase. I would try the Parrot as the device I have will only allow me to redial that last number called and answer incoming calls.
Not at all disappointed with the Mini Sound System. And as for the phone? Well, who wants to talk to the wife? Ooops, I should not say that.....
Love the car and glad to have the Nav System. Don't need an expensive iPhone for what one call to the wife per day?
For Music I plugged in an iPod Classic. Used to use an iTouch but the Classic is fine. Works great and glad I got the stereo I did. I have had better, Sub Woofer and all but I don't relish the thought of changing much. Too much work.

Oops. I forgot to put the link up but yeah it is the Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit from Amazon. Stay away from the belkin one as it does not auto connect and cost $15 more.
