JCW Intake Bottom Piece

Hi Everyone,

I recently purchased a JCW Intake from a member here. I thought I was purchasing the whole thing but he only sent me the upper part. He said the bottom piece should be the same. I have been unable to find a bottom piece picture until now. Can someone verify that the bottom does indeed have a hole that the standard Cooper S doesn't? I started thinking about this after watching plenty a youtube video and noticing that their cars made a tad more noise (sc) than mine. Can this be why? I guess if it is the case, this can be a nice fix for those who don't like the noise but I want it!

Found this page where he shows a picture of the bottom... http://www.motoringfile.com/2006/02/...ld-air-intake/

The bottom portion of the air box is the shared between them. That picture is showing the difference in the firewall between the two intakes. The jcw intake has an extra hole there because it has a flap that is actuated above 4500rpm or so to get more fresh air. This should give you an idea.

part #1 in the diagram is the same between both intakes, assuming thats what you were referring to.

I see, thank you very much for clarifying. I guess my JCW Intake is pretty much acting as a regular intake (but with a cone filter) at this point. I will have to go ahead and drill a hole . Thanks for the info and pictures!

Here is a picture of the JCW intake kit if that helps. Has the different partition then the stock one.

Thanks and good luck.

Hi,

Sorry for dragging up this old thread from the dead. Just wondering how you went with this. Did the JCW top airbox fit the stock R53 bottom airbox?

I need to replace my lower airbox (the top JCW cover is ok still), but ECS specifically state "Not for John Cooper Works kit"
