Question For Minihune
Question For Minihune
Please tell me where the jack points are located on the R53 GP. As you know, the GP does not come with jack, only extension blocks. I need to switch out the OEM wheels and tires for mounting winter wheels and tires.
Thank you!
Thank you!
Thanks for your previous recommendation regarding 1st Gen GP Forum. I noticed that your car has clear bra. Could you please give me a few details about where to have such protection installed, or if you do it yourself let me know if it's a difficult job and approximate cost. Thx
The R53 is the same whether GP or not.

There are four jack points (labeled #2) each with a hard rectangular rubber which you use. If you lift the MINI on the forward jack point high enough with a floor jack it will raise both tires on that side off the ground.
For clear bra I recommend Venture Shield by 3M but if your color is light such as white there can be some mild discoloration over time.

It is not really a DIY project as skill plays a large role in how well applied the product goes on.
Rough cost of just the front area of a MINI is about $900-1200 depending on if you want to do part of the front bumpers and hood or all of it. They have templates already done so you can order the kit form pre-cut which simplifies things for the installer.
You can ask to see a sample of the installer's work, go and visit their shop and see one of the cars they just finished.
The product is very durable but can tear if you hit something hard beyond a rock. Rock chip resistance is very good. You can always replace the damaged panel of the clear bra. If you put clear bra over the headlights they will not get fogged up over time.

In addition you can do several things with the rubber jack pucks. You can use them as is but if you lower your MINI it will be more and more difficult to get your racing floor jack under the jack puck.
One solution is to drive your MINI onto one to several pieces of wood which will raise your MINI to a higher level so that you jack can fit.
Or you can replace the rubber pucks with a more slim metal version that installs in the same locations. In reality I replaced just the front two on each side since that is the place I need to jack up the MINI. I gave the other two from the set of four to another MINI owner. You can also remove the rear two jack pucks if you hardly use them so that they don't fall off on the track.
You can also use a jack pad adapter to help make lifting the MINI easier and less likely the jack will damage the jack pucks from improper fit.

Also if you need to put your MINI on jack stands see-

I am planning to replace my current 16-in wheels with MSR 18 x 8, 4 x 100, ET: 42. I am planning to run 205/40 - 18 RFT tires. Will this combination fit without interfering with the fender liner or stock suspension? Is anyone running this setup?
Agreed. To all those that have questions you can post them to all members in the correct forums or if you wish to ask me then send a PM is the best method.
