School me on my car

Still very much in love with my 2010 MC. But, I want to keep her running strong. What should be looking out for? Just under 45k on it now. Timing Belt (or chain), any BIG service intervals on the 2010? So far everything is great. Change my oil every 5k. No codes, and lots of fun driving :D

You have a timming chain and if it had issues i would think you would know by now. it's a pretty loud noticeable sound. it doesnt need to be replaced rountinly, only if you have a bad tensioner. as for major services. the coolant should be done ever 4 years, brake fluid every 2 years, air filter and cabin filter as needed, if it's a manual trans then i do mine every 30,000 and spark plugs i did at 50,000. I also did my serpintine belt at 50,000. i think that covers pretty much everything. You dont have a S so you should not have to worry about the carbon issue. the only other thing you might check is the thermostate housing. I dont know if that is as big a issue on the Non S but i know on the MCS it's pretty common. i just now had mine done at 56,000.

Johnny, Since you don't have the turbo charged engine, there is little chance that you will have the timing chain problems that they experience. If you are changing oil every 5000 miles you may find that you have no need to add oil. But, don't neglect the need to check the oil level. And keep an eye on the coolant level. Running too low on oil or coolant can cause much grief!

I would flush the coolant if you're approaching 50,000 miles and also the manual transmission fluid.

Tell you what, it does suck up a decent bit of oil. I check it every couple of weeks (or whenever I think too ) and it isnt un common im putting some in. Usually keep a quart in the trunk.
Will definitely do the coolant and tranny fluid..thank you!

There are plenty of DIY articles on each item. The biggest thing with the coolant is to be sure the bleeder screw is open on the thermostat when you're SLOWLY filling the coolant.

All great suggestions/advice above. Take a minute and review our coolant change step-by-step and manual transmission fluid change articles.

Sounds like you doing good. Keep it up. I had my timing belt changed on my 2008 in conjunction with my water pump. Besides that there has been no real issues. Sway bar links in the back also wants bad. Just a couple of watch points perhaps.
