I can barely stand not having it already. I just put down my 500 clams on a beautiful 03 BRG/White MCS w/stripes.

My dealer (Don Rosen in Philadelphia) is saying 7 months, which leves me hungry until April. For those who've placed orders lately, are you hearing similar timelines? Any chance MINI will boost production?

I ordered mine ten days ago from Northwest Mini in Tacoma, WA and was told I'm in the April 2003 production run. I won't hear from the dealer again until mid-March to confirm option choices, etc., and I can expect the car in late May. So that's seven months as well.

I'm antsy about the long wait, but it gives me time to save up for the car...

Oh god.. that's a long time... I thought June to September was tourture... but it makes me wonder, is it just these dealers, or is our little MINI becoming more popular, and with it, the wait times skyrocketing...

I ordered mine on Sept. 11th and is due in California on Nov. 11th. I probably won't get the car until early December though because of prep and things I want added to it like driving lights. My dealer said 3 months and it seems to be right on time. I'm not quite sure if maybe there is a fster process if you put more down. I think the time frame of the wait corresponds to how many each dealer is allotted. I believe there are only so many a dealer can order a month.

Yes, I believe the wait time is a function of dealer allotment. Northwest Mini up here is Washington is apparently assigned a flat 300 cars per year, right now, regardless of how many orders they take. So the more people who buy from my dealer, the longer the wait. Higher-volume dealers and/or lower-demand areas would I think result in shorter wait times.

 

For those of us waiting to order a 2003 with the H-K stereo, December will be the first month they start producing cars with it (supposedly). If you are in this category then subtract 2 months from what you are quoted before you compare to how long it took anyone with a car currently being produced or on the way.

I put a deposit down 3 weeks ago with Road Show MINI in Memphis (I live in Texas by the way) and I will either be a December or a January order. This means I will get the car either at the end of February or the end of March. If I had been willing to go without the H-K stereo I could have ordered immediately and had the car by the end of December or beginning of January.

Bottom line, if you don't want the H-K stereo you can probably get one quicker if you are willing to shop around. Just check the Dealer Rating System and you will quickly sort out who the high performing (good service) dealers are.

I ordered my MC a couple of weeks ago. The Irvine,CA dealer orders once per month so I just got into the months order with the last allotment for October!! I too have ordered the HK stereo and they told me December production with February delivery or so.

They did tell me that if I didn't want the stereo, I would have a November build.
