Music bluetooth solution for R58 w/o Mini Connected
Hi, I have been searching into the forum and could not find a specific response for my question. Sorry if it is there, I could not find it :-)
I live in Spain and I have a Mini Cooper S Coupé (R58) without Mini Connected (lack of A2DP
) and I want to stream music as well as phone calls via Bluetooth from my iPhone 5 running iOS 7 to the car.
After countless hours comparing different methods I have come up with a possible solution which involves this cable:
http://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B00A...rd_i=602357031
This is a non-official (much less expensive) Y cable for the Mini which seems to be working as intended.
I would also be using the tune2air from Viseeo:
http://www.amazon.es/ViseeO-Tune2air...words=tune2air
I would plug the Y cable to the usb and 3,5 mm jack and the tune2air to the cable's 30 pin connector.
Has someone tried this configuration? Would I lose the ability to answer calls via the car's integrated bluetooth while using this system?
Many thanks

Hello,
I had a similar issue like yours in my previous cooper. I only had the Bluetooth option, without the A2DP capability. You can achieve what you are trying to achieve with a much cheaper solution. I had a blackberry Bluetooth gateway connected to the car. You can get one on eBay fairly cheap.

Here's what you gonna need and how to connect. It's pretty simple. The beauty of it is that you can still receive phone calls. The music will fade out. Once the call is completed, the music will start back on automatically.
A. Audio cable http://ask.creative.com/wwimages/spe...ereo_cable.jpg
B. USB Charging cable

1. Connect the audio cable from the BB Gateway to the car audio input.
2. Connect a basic USB cable to car and the end to the Gateway
3. Pair your phone with the Gateway and you are all set
But keep in mind that the only problem with this setup is, when you start the car it may take 10-15 seconds for the gateway to start. Then you can just press play on your iPhone. This wasn't an issue for me.
Hope this helps. Good luck

I wound up switching to the
Bluetooth unit and am using it with my Galaxy Note 3 and it works flawlessly and sounds great.
The greatest part is that my steering wheel controls for next and previous song works as well as compared to using the Kinivo or the Belkin unit.
It has an old style iphone connector on it so it works with the Y Cable from mini.
ViseeO makes a special Y cable for the mini that allows the song names to be passed to the radio as well and I have that on order. Right now it just says next where the song name would be. LOVE LOVE LOVE this unit. It even works in my other car with a Dension PCM Adapter although there is no song name support in that scenario.
