I have an idea for a product design that I think would be very successful. I really want it for my MINI, and I have not seen it anywhere else. I also believe that many people would like it. It is not a performance part nor an object, it is more like a design. I think Cooperflags would be interested in the idea, but I am not sure how to go about it, and I didn't think it would hurt to ask this great community. I'm just a guy in college trying to make a buck with this idea, so that's why I didn't post a pic of it. Any advice would be very helpful. Sorry if this sounds vague, let me know if I need to clear something up. Thanks

>>>>>>EDIT: I decided to post a picture.

No, it's not a lightbulb idea. I just used that for my title because, ya know, that's the way cartoons always look when they get what they think is a good idea. It is a body/graphic/custompaint job idea that I have. I'm guessing I should change the title...

If you want to protect your idea, depending what it is you need to patent or trademark it http://www.uspto.gov/. Note that this process is their cheap nor expedient.
If it's just an idea of what you'd like on a graphic, you can certainly contact Cooperflags and ask them if they'd like to license your design. Provide it to them with a watermark to maintain ownership, and document your presentation if you think they might 'steal it'. Intellectual Property (IP) is a very 'squishy' part of business.
Good luck!

I'll take a guess. How about a roof graphic that is not a graphic for people with sunroofs. Like a white stick on to cover your sunroof so that the whole roof looks white.

Am I close?

Do you have any Dyno charts for your new idea?

A Comma would help. I'll take a guess. How about a roof graphic that is not a graphic, for people with sunroofs. Like a white stick on to cover your sunroof so that the whole roof looks white.

How can you possibly expect any advice or opinions when you've given no clue as to what it is you're thinking of?

Also, did no one get my chandler bing joke?

I'm used to being teased by vendors showing off products that won't be available for a while, but being teased without even being told what the product might be might be is taking it a bit far

Well, what the heck, I'll post a pic. I didn't mean to anger anyone. I did use the watermark idea, so I'm comfortable posting it. I think I have only set you up for disappointment now. Basically, I think its a cool design. And I didn't do it on anything adobe or something like that, so its not real professional, could definitely use some tweaking. And it is kindof a makeshift watermark, too. Just let me know what you think. Thanks for everyone who has offered advice, also.
I have a few variations that need work. I took the idea that is kind of in the wings of the MINI emblem and applied it to the body.

That design is awesome. I would say that even if CooperFlags does not like it, get it made for yours. Looking forward to the pictures.

I'm disappointed. I thought your idea was going to be a trompe l'oeille sunroof applique for MINIs without sunroofs...

No anger here - I just didn't know what anyone could tell you without knowing what you had in mind.

Looks pretty good - your car would certainly be unique! Probably wouldn't cost that much to get it made by a vinyl sign place.
