Ah.....now, I get it! MCS vs. CMJCW

so, my wife and I are first time Mini owners and the only one I had ever driven was the CMS that was the basis for us ordering our CMJCW.

Last week I took our CM in for a 5k oil change and got a MCS as a loaner....manual tranny, obviously.

WOW, what a kick in the pants that car was to drive...It felt like a bullet compared to our CMJCW, even at 25 or so fewer horses. That extra weight and All4 on the CM makes a huge difference in acceleration...

Now, i do love how our CM with all4 and upgraded suspension handles the twisties...stays planted a virtually any corner entry speed, but......

kicking the rear end out around corners in that MCS(I'm surprised how much fun DTS let me have) was a real hoot. I know get why the MCS is so darn popular.

My Z06 is ten years old and while I love that car dearly........but this thing was just outstanding. I am seriously considering whether I want to pick up an R56 S before they are all gone.....

If you liked the MCS, drive a JCW hardtop. I have a 2012, it is way faster, and more fun than the MCS.

The hardtops definitely handle better than the MINI Town & Country.

If you want an R56, better hop on the train now. Have you seen the new F56? It is hideous!

And just because I have to have a shameless plug, my R56 for sale is quicker than the JCW hardtop, check my link. Yup... I said it!

Yeah, but Shane, would you sell your MINI to someone from Columbus? Go Blue!

Have fun,
Mike

Can't let that one slide. My youngest daughter graduated from The Ohio State University in May. Go Buckeyes!

Might as well mention that my oldest daughter graduated from the University of Alabama in 2010. Roll Tide!

My daughters went to great football schools, but I went to USF in Tampa. We're known for our sailing teams.

Hey Z06, you're not alone in feeling that way. I just a month and half ago had the exact same experience. I had bought a CMS ALL4 about a year ago and took it in for some service, they gave me a MCS hardtop for a loaner and that was all it took. The next week I ordered one of the few R56 that were left. Should be taking delivery sometime this week! If you don't need the extra space I'd go for it. The MCS is well worth it.

I think I'm going to have to have one.....will probably wait now for the F56's. We got too spoiled being able to order our CMJCW exactly like we wanted it. There's no way I could find a remaining R56 the way I want it....!

There's nothing wrong with that, looks aside, the F56 is shaping up to be a great car. And personally, I think people have just rushed to judge it without seeing it in the flesh (or even in decent pictures.)

Looks aside, great engine and fantastic transmission in 2015+, but then again the looks are crappy for the F56. I'd much rather have a CMJCW and call it a day. I can't wait to see how these things sell a year after they put the product on the market.
