Dunlop Direzza

Had some Dunlop Direzza Star Spec tires for my S2000 a couple years ago but tire rack no longer offers them. Did Dunlop change the name? If so, to what? What other tires should I look into?

Star spec was replaced by Direzza Z II

This is a much faster tire in dry. Wet handling and ride quality were affected as a result.

Are you using these on the street / daily driver?

Fortunately in Oklahoma it doesn't rain that often or that much so I don't think I would necessarily need a great wet tire.

Unfortunately in Oklahoma we don't have very many twisty roads so autox and on ramps are really all the spirited driving I get to experience

What tire sizes are you looking for?

Do you have stock suspension?

What is your budget? How long do you want the tires to last.

For the best grip and handling but with faster wear, look at Extreme Summer tires. BF Goodrich g-Force Rival, Dunlop Direzza ZII, Bridgestone RE-11A, Hankook R-S3, etc. Treadwear from 140-200.

If you want a better price with a little better treadwear but still very good handling and performance then look at Max Summer tires. Treadwear about 300.

The Continental ExtremeContact DW is a well priced tire with good handling but has a slightly softer ride quality.

If you have a larger budget then look at Michelin Pilot Super Sports, or check out Bridgestone Potenza S-04.

Super Sport is the best handling max performance tire. The Bridgestone S04 offers quieter and smoother DD characteristics. DW goes one step past S04 in ride, and has excelent wet grip, as a result gives up some dry grip.

If you want similar grip levels to the Star Spec, Bridgestone comes through with Re11, as the most street-able extreme performance tire on the market currently.

I have 215/40/17 on now but I have different tires on the front and rear. Falken Ziex ZE512 on the front and Kumho Ecsta AST on the rear.

I'd ideally like the best dry performance (grip) I can get with a tread wear of 300 or so.

It's not time to buy just yet as I still have tread left but I like to get opinions and research before the time comes so I'm ready.
