Well 40,000MI is about a good time to sell it. I intend on selling mine while
it's still under warranty. Besides, I like the new car smell and feel anyhow  I pretty much do 36 month payment schemes, keep it few months after that
period runs out then sell it. Sometimes I lease, sometimes I buy (depends on the
car/deal).

Interested in selling some mods?

Hey Dennis,
It's P-Car season and you wouldn't be excluded from the MINI Cup III
X2
P.S. I'm looking in to an engine swap to a 3.4 from a 996. Of course the mods on the Porsche are not as "cheap" as those on the MINI.

I was down @ Helix yesterday (Eric parted out Doug's MCS)
I'll probably end up w/ another MCS...
but.... will take a much different approach towards things like:
-mileage
-interior & audio mods
-engine and suspension mods
-rims & tires
Can anyone suggest a good place to list the car????
Thanks in advance
Peace,
D

I had my '03 listed on Autotrader.com and it generated lots of interest, great response. Ended up selling it on ebay though. If I had been a little more patient I could have gotten more for it by sticking wiht Autotrader but am still very happy with the price I got.
For the New England/New York area, I'd list it on Bargain News. I listed my Jetta for 2 weeks for $21... within one day of having it listed, it was sold for the price I wanted.

D,
Good luck with your efforts to sell. Your MINI is one of the very best.
Those sites mentioned above are good place to start.
Can you elaborate on your next and new strategy if you do get another MINI?
I know if I had to do it all over again I would be quite different.
I'd order the MINI I wanted not buy what was in stock.
I'd leave as many things stock as I could except for tires.
I'd go with the Harmon Kardon Audio and just live with it or maybe just add a subwoofer.
I'd add maybe an intake and maybe a quiet exhaust.
I do exterior appearance mods.
And I'd do lots more driving school.

1st….. thanks for the reply’s ..I truly appreciate the input and help
I will get all (3) packages again... plus all that is available except the nav (again) as I still prefer the center speedo.
The Garmin 2620 as a GPS is all that …. and portable)..so that’s my current stance.
I'd like to figure out a way to buy this MCS w/o rims and tires...rofl....
cause I expect to purchase superlite 17”(3) piece wheels (yup black and silver again  ) and most probably Toyo tires...again.
Exhaust & Intake bits: alta intake, miltek exhaust, and maybe header.... for that piece of it.
Suspension.... coil-overs, control arms and a rear sway bar (no specific brand names yet...)
pulley.... for sure...which one..... good question....
software ...for sure.... which one... good question....
That’s all I see as far as performance mods…. There are many other addition’s…but none that I personally ….require
A stealth look…. minus side#’s and w/ a stripe-less exterior….. with as much chrome painted to gloss black…as I can manage to do.
Tint all the windows at 20%...and a new d-mini-ero logo on top
I will not part out the car…
I designed it ( painted a picture if you will ) …
It is what it is…. and that’s how it will be sold
And what is this all contingent upon….

>> are….endless
… Also to get the external plastic pieces painted as well in gloss black…. w/ the addition of the aero-kit front black grills.
Good luck selling your car. Black looks very nice, but is alot of work to keep it that way.
If you decide to go with a full aero kit, and want to sell the stock pieces, I'd take the stock rear bumper off your hands.

D - good luck parting with MINI #1.......lapis leather, however, will not be available in 2005, to be replaced with a darker blue shade - Dark Blue Leather , hope that doesn't make a huge difference for you!
Best regards,

Guess Doug decided not to wait until he could sell his whole car? Or did he just part out the mods?
I am thinking about black as well for my second MINI, which I am hoping to order at the end of the summer. But that depends on weather or not I can get the convertible top in white. We'll see. Glad your staying in the MINI family Dennis.
Have you placed an order for your "dream MINI" yet or waiting to sell the exsisting one. That's gonna be 8 weeks you'll be without the car.

D,
Since Lapis blue leather is no longer available you can:
Go with Dark Blue, Black leather or Cordoba brown leather.
Or go with leatheretter or space cloth and cover the seats with leather of your choice of color and style/stitching- even with the new d-mini-ero logo embroidered onto it.

>>Well.... it's comming up on (1) week...

Internet based used car ad sites have never really work out for me in the past. Big waste of money IMO.
The "Old" selling methods still work well today as they did before the days of the Internet. I sold my last car thanks to a simple "For sale" sign in the back window....sold the car in under 20 minutes much faster than any internet ad would have done for me and the sign costed me $1.99.
maybe you need to put a couple "For sale" signs in it, keep the car PRISTINE because a clean car is an absolute eye catcher. Also keep with you at all times the service records of the car. When you flash that folder full of dealer service receipts people will believe anything you say about the car because you are given the impression that you really took very good care of it.
Also, plan to put an ad in the local newspaper(s) as this will give more exposure to the car.
And last of all, patience is the greatest virtue you can have while finding a buyer for your car. Perhaps it would be a good idea to order a new '05 MCS for delivery say in July/August and with that in mind you'll have 2-3 months to sell the old MCS. I don't think you will have a problem selling the car not only fast but at a very fair price too.
