Good luck. Selling a car on your own takes lots of time and mucho patience but in the end it does pay off big time vs a trade in transaction.

Keep your car waxed/detailed and carry with you at all times a folder with all its service records. You'll never know when an interested buyer may turn up.

Last car I sold ('01 Chevy Impala LS) took me about 6-7 months to sell privately but it was worth it in the end. That worked out great as I was waiting for my '04 MCS so all the pieces fell into place when I least expected it.

I would try offering your MINI in the West Coast, more specifically, California where there are very eager MCS buyers even willing to buy an used one.

Park your clean and smart looking MCS outside the front gate of a nearby and prominent military base with lots of for sale signs all around on a weekend.

Young service men have more than the usual interest in sports cars and have some regular income and good interest rates for loans.

You can also sell your MCS based on consignment at a MINI/BMW or european sports car dealership.
We have some people with highly modded MINI that sold them this way in my area.

Good luck.

It took me 6 weeks to sell my 2002 Cooper. I kept a sign in the car the whole time, advertised in local paper (no response), did auto-trader (got the most interest) but finally ended up selling it from a for sale post on the Mini Mania board. The bumblebee went from Tennessee to Connecticut. It sold about 10 days before my new S came in last October. It took more patience than I realized to sell it. Find as much internet exposure as you can, especially with your mods.

d,

I would try Autotrader. Of the cars that I have sold, I have gotten the most interest from autotrader and have sold all of them through this service. I think the cost is around $60 to have it posted until it sells. It did take some time (6-8 weeks), and the interest came in spurts. Sometimes 3 calls in one night and then nothing for two weeks. But it eventually sold. I have also heard many other people get good response from autotrader.

Ditto Autotrader The range is sufficient that people in more than just your local paper's area will see the ads, especially usefull in the East Coast IMO. Another ploy, advertise in the Wall Street Journal, as its mostly Ferrari, Aston Martin and Rolls-Royce, a MINI could bring on a chuckle and an offer or two.

LOL at all the suggestions for Dennis to keep his ride detailed, and spit shined as he sells it.
Dennis IS Dr. Detail. I have no vested interest in this deal but will say that this car will be the sweetest ride anyone can get.

The MinieroMobile is a total package. Total integration of concept and execution with every detail contributing toi the whole. It is greater than the sum of it's parts and I applaud him for not wishing to see it parted out and dismembered.
Dennis you will find a conessieur who appreciates great art. Your car will motor on intact. Good luck.

Have you ever seen the stealth all black in the gallery. I think it's called "SMUDGE".
Looks like Koolmini is going to prove to be a recognizeable influence.

Motor On!

I think it is a good idea not to part the car out, but I don't think the items installed are anything so superbly picked out that it makes it a tremendous car. Most of the items are common items found on tons of Minis. I think the stripe/tint, and painted wheels are the only really interesting aspect. To say that is greater than the sum of it's parts is a little overboard.

Your new Mini idea of black on black sounds really cool.

Here's my spin
Max (Ed) likes my MCS...obviously  & from his perspective its special... His MCS has few mods so my MCS is mod-alishious.
I must repectfully disagree that there are ... TONS... of modded MINI's out there.
There might be a large percentage here on NAM and other MINI sites... but that represents just a fraction of the MINI's sold in the US & the World. I would venture to say that most MINI's are not "Performance modded" in the general population.
In the case of my MCS...my humble opinion is that....sometimes the carefully chosen pieces placed together to ...is indeed greater that the sum of all the individual pieces involved.
I built a..... mid-life crisis.... spirited street car.... for a 50 year old...branded w/ my d-mini-ero logo
ROFL>>>ROFL>>>ROFL
It's a tremendous car to me...

It's just choices and opinions mi amigo.... and your point is as valid as Ed's or mine..& personal to you
choices ...choices...choices....

Peace,
D

True that many MINIs may have any one of the appointments chosen by Dennis. However many are an afterthought and stand out as individual modifications. The MinieroMobile is seamless and no one item stands out or draws attention to itself.
In my past life in Corporate America I was witness to many people wearing "Power Suits", with K-Mart ties. Hushpuppies with Armani jackets. People would just comment on the tie, shoes, belts or the individual accessory. The individual item jumped out. Called attention to itself. The true master of power dressing left leaving one with the impression that something was special and out of the ordinary but the reason could not be isolated or imitated. It was unique, seamless and executed with thought and precision.
The MINIt is a total integration. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The car is a beauty to behold. Opinion and choice are unique to each individual.

Dennis's car is unigue to him. He is a unigue individual. I like his choices. Just my opinion and I appreciate yours and the chance to make my thoughts more clear.

Happy Motoring!

>>5 full days....1200 hits....0 bids

If you know about ebay.com it may take until the final tick tocks to snag a buyer. Something about the thrill of bidding at the end of an auction time period. My bids go in with less than 5 seconds left if I time it right. It's like the final punch before the bell sounds in boxing.

1200 hits is good. People are looking, even casually and telling others which can mushroom.
Plus to sell a car or house you need only ONE buyer that is qualified and interested.
Be patient.

In my area we have a european used car specialty dealer that would love to get a MCS like yours.
Check around and see if there are any high end used luxury car dealers nearby where you can sell on consignment or sell outright.

One of two things needs to happen Dennis

You'll need to wait long enough for the person to come along who strongly identifies with the mods you have completed, or you might want to think about lowering your price some. The mileage is a bit high I think for the asking price. Just my opinion.
I cannot wait to see a black MCS with a carbon fiber hood that will truly be delicious!
