Sport pack DTC & EDLC

Hi
If I push the anti skid button for about
1 sec the display on the tac says traction.
What exactly does that mean?
When does the EDLC get switched on?
If I then push the button for 3 sec the tac display
says dtc or asc can't remember is off.
Press again and it's back to the start.
So I would like to know exactly what they
mean by traction is the DTC off and the EDLC on?
I understand it doesn't come on untill you
have pressed the button for 3 sec and switched
everything else off by doing it.
Can some one very simply explain what the step to give
you traction display switches on or off.
And then what is happening after you press the button
for 3 sec.
I really want to know what step switches on the EDLC.
Thanks. Am I the only one who thinks this is not explained
very well in the manual.

first button press disables traction control but vehicle stability control is left enabled. Not sure if the e-diff is enabled in this mode or not.

long button press disables traction control and stability control and enables the e-diff.

When it says "traction" you're in DTC mode. The system allows more wheels spin before doing anything about it. When it does something the intervention is briefer, like a little hicup, rather than the brakes being slammed on. It does try to maintain stability. I've only used it on the track and I can feel it trying to help while I'm trying to correct matters and things can get a little weird.

After the long press it should say DSC off and have the icon of a slippy road. Then you only have EDLC, it won't cut the power, it will brake one spinning wheel (to allow the power to go to the other). It will allow you to have two spinning wheels. It won't try to make any stability corrections, you're entirely on your own there. I usually use the off mode for track or autocross.

On the street I leave it in full on mode, I hardly ever have a problem with it.

It's part of the sport pack in the UK. In America you can have
It a stand alone option I think.

In the US you can get DTC as a standalone option, it also comes in the sport package, and its standard on JCWs.

MINI say the "traction" mode may be useful for snow.
