iphone 5 Snap In Adaptor Part Number

Hi All,

I've heard that the iPhone 5 snap in adaptor is coming soon. motoringfile had a post said it was coming in August.

A few various posts in these forums have quoted the 28th of this month as well as "some time in September." I've talked to the parts department at my MINI dealership and they said they expect it soon but they don't know the part number and without they can't order if for me.

I created this topic to track when and if somebody was actually able to order one and if they did please post the part number so others can order one.

Thanks,
Austin

I was at my dealer today, ready to purchase. The unit is delayed until 9-1-13. The part numbers are in the system. He didnt want me to pay for it yet until it is actually availeable. The unit for non connected cars are in u.s. warehouses now. The unit for connected are not.

Its not available yet, but possible in the future. You can check checking our site or this thread.

There is a Media IPhone 5 version , and its not available yet either.

Thanks

Thanks for the info guys.

ECS, Do you have access to new parts at the same time as the dealerships? If so I would be more inclined to order from your site. You have already provided more info than than the parts department at either of my local dealerships.

Also, does anybody know the difference between the connected version and the media version? I think the media version is what I'm looking for but I'm not sure.

I agree with you, especially if they can match a dealer coupon I have for 21% off. 😜

I think I've found the part numbers for the all of the iPhone 5 snap in adaptors.

84212351307 Basic
84212351308 Connect
84212351309 Media

Looks like they are all available in Germany, but we are still waiting on a US release date. I'll update this post if and when I find anything else out.

Yep , looks like the number.

Thanks for asking, we currently don't do any coupon codes. We try to have parts as soon as possible.

I believe if it follow previous logic of the snap ins. The connected would be for MINI connect, the Media would be for non MINI Connected, and the basic would be for people that have the Bluetooth system on Gen 1 ( with the snap in base armrest ) and early simple Bluetooth on Gen 2 with armrest base plate. I am sure MINI will come out with more info soon. Or just check this thread.

Thanks

Trade For New Adapter?

I have a new 2013 Paceman S which came with an adapter - but for the pre-iPhone 5 models. I wonder if the dealer would let me "trade in" the existing adapter for the new one? I suspect not - but it is a bummer to get something that doesn't work and have to pay for an updated adapter for a car one month old (and a iPhone model a year old!).

iPhone Adapter

Must of been part of a package - nothing was noted on the window sticker or the build report.

Interesting. Maybe if you get the full blown technology and connected with nav packages they include it.

iPhone

Yes, I have connected plus NAV.

Ironic in that I don't have an iPhone right now - I will be getting the new iPhone (5S?) when it is released later this month. (My company pays for a BlackBerry - but it is a horrible phone.) Then I have to figure out how I want to connect it. The advantage is that it connects to the car antenna and recharges the phone. The disadvantage is that you can't use a case - the "bare" phone has to fit into the adapter.

I am going to see if I can get the dealer to swap adapters. Probably not, but it is worth trying.

With the my 2011 countryman I had to pay $250 for the adapter/armrest to be prewired at the factory...wait and experiment with several cradles ($185-225.) to finally find and work with the 4/4s. If Apple changes the physical size of the 6...which is almost a no brainer...then those looking to upgrade will be needing and waiting for mini to support and build a larger cradle...and so on and so fourth.. Most likely the main reason for me to stay with the 4s..especially if it's upgrades is close to the 5/5s other than physical size..

Might as well just use this:

Pick it up at the 7:00 mark after the whole build up in the video. Skip the cable connection altogether!

Any update concerning the adapter?

Maybe I'll join for updates. I got a cable for iPhone with my MINI last week; it is for 30 pin connections (pre iPhone 5), so no good for me. It is also really short, useless for plugging in to the MINI USB and aux in ports AND looking for songs as well. Completely not intuitive. SIGH.

My dealer called me about 15 minutes ago and informed me they have received the cradle! I am going to pick it up Saturday. He said that it is "fully functional". I'm not sure what that means but I'll find out Saturday. FYI, I have mini connected with nav.
