Here's how I saved alot of money on a recent JCW repair

My clutch went out recently and my maintenance contract had expired on my 2010 Chili Red JCW.

The new clutch and flywheel installation on a JCW is $4000+!
I didn't want to spend that kind of money, so I spoke to the service rep at the dealer here in L.A.

She recommended I buy a new maintenace contract for $1999 for 3 years. Sounded like alot BUT I did it and I got a free clutch and flywheel, new brakes free front and rear, (all labor included) and other free items that would have cost far more than the $1999. AND I still am covered for 3 more years.

I had no idea I could do that, and it saved me thousands of dollars.

It worked for me.

I thought you could only buy the maintenance contract extension if you were still under the original maintenance contract. Interesting...

That was a very sweet offer. I'll wager that it is not at all common.

Unless you abused it, you shouldn't have had to replace the clutch in the first place. Mine went at 47,000. My saab has 160,000 on the original clutch. GO figure.

I had 201k on a Saturn Ion clutch before I traded it in on my CM...I'd better get something pretty darn close out of this one (unless it goes while under extended maintenance, then the second one better go for +150k).

I also drive a Lotus Elise, so yeah, maybe I am a little rough on the clutch.

So did I! This was at South Bay Mini in California, and they seem to be extremely flexible about helping customers!

They also are fast, polite, and they don't mind if you paint or Dip your wheels black or any of that external stuff!

So...what it means is, it is absolutely worth asking for the maintenance extension.

By the way, I have a really cool sports car and exotic car photoblog with over 414,000 views to date. Come take a look...it's free and I work really hard to only post the best photographs in the world. http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f23/...ml#post2380713
