hey guy's i bought this r56 mini cooper for the wife about 3 months ago, and i rarely get to drive it. it is auto with paddle shifters.

i've noticed the paddle shifters only shifts to a higher gear and would never shift down. both left and right paddles shifts up in both D and DS modes.

is this normal? or should i get the dealer to take a look at it? i find it kind of strange that it does this lol every other car's i've driven with paddle shifters, the right paddle is always upshift, whereas the left is for downshifts.

if i wanted to downshift, i'd have to use the center stock in DS mode and to push it forward...

 

Pull to up shift
Push to downshift
Should be able to do it on both sides.

Also you are in the Gen 1 section R50 R52 R53, you need Gen 2 R56+ , hopefully the mods will move the thread.
