Wifey's New JCW Countryman:(Pics) Need Opinions From Mini Owners

She loves it! Has just about every option available that I am aware of. Manual transmission at her request. Question? We are in our mid 50's and she is not thrilled with the dealer installed graphics. She likes the stripes, but not the body side red checker. On the other hand, we know a few people our age in car clubs, and they say they normally don't like it, but it fits this car perfectly and they say keep it.

Not that it will change her mind Just curious what everyone thinks.

Works for me. The red ties the front and rear stripes together.

The front and rear stripes look really nice. Huge fan of the matte black viper stripes. I decided against side stripes on mine, but that checkered fade from black to red is pretty sweet. Not sure how I feel about the red stripe on the aero kit on the side.

I say you keep it all. All the different elements together look great. Taking off one piece or another may take away from the overall design. Just my thought...

I'm personally not a fan of all the gig-a-ree-doo on the sides. Racing stripes look great, sides look too much for me.

I absolutely love it. MINIs are about these kinds of graphics. If she doesn't like them though...Might as well remove them.

I'm not crazy about the checkers, but pictures are not the same as in person. It's definitely a unique look. MINIs are like snow flakes. No two are the same. Id say if you like it, motor on and be happy!

I love the sides...very unique, but think am not digging the viper stripes (so I'm the opposite of just about everyone else - there's always one!)

I hesitate to post all this, but you did ask for opinions. At the end of the day, she lives in your driveway so whatever you like is what you should stick with.

That said, here's what I see:

The one thing I would definitely change is removing the red fill-in stripe from the side skirts - I'm not a fan of that on its own or with the other graphics.

I think like the viper stripes in theory, but I'm not a big fan of the execution - but it's hard to put a finger on the precise reason. More than that, though, is that the viper stripes don't seem to fit with the checkers on the sides.

I actually think the checker design would work well with the regular MINI bonnet stripes. If you really wanted to tie the black and red together, you could get the main stripe black with the smaller accent/pinstripe in red.

we have the same 19" wheels...love those.

I have always felt that a white car needs a splash of color, so I like the side skirt graphics...reminds me of the CM WRC rally car.

The bonnet and boot stripes....gotta GO. first off there's way too much vinyl on such a small car....I would dump the stripes for sure...

Hey, you are NEVER too old for a little flash :-) We are in our early 50's and got a Chili Red car with checker rear and sideview mirrors !

That's just the normal JCW badge, isn't it?

Personally I think it's too much.. But it's due to living in Los Angeles and being exposed to all these rice rockets.

Btw my car is the opposite of yours... White base red top/mirrors and no stripes.

Hi,

do you have any pix of your car you can post? i think I am seeing Viper stripes on your hood....now THAT is a nice look with the side graphics.....the bonnet/boot stripes have to be close together in the middle, like Viper or single Le Mans stripes, IMO....

ah yes, very nice....love the viper stripes. IF we put stripes on, that's what they will look like, but we have not decided yet...

I'm clueless, but learning the Mini Countryman. I like the stripes on your car, as opposed to ours. Are they aftermarket? I have also seen other factory graphics, with the narrow middle, and then there is the factory JCW graphics. I think the car looks better with some graphics, but we need to make a change. Odd, I have now seen three cars with the side graphics that are similar. Also, now that everyone has pointed out the stripes on our car are to wide (sorry for the double post) I agree.

She loves the car, and if she breaks down, I can always put it in the back of my one ton diesel Ford 4x4. LOL I think my wife and I have different tastes.

Mine were installed at the Mini dealer. Your mileage may vary, but mine was very knowledge about installing stripes and had several options to choose from. Just get an idea of what you want and see what they can do. A lot of people on here swear by independent graphics shops, but I didn't have to go that route.

First age has nothing to do with it.

Second live with the graphics for a bit. If anything they will take so,e rock hits then you can ditch them. I had regular bonnet strips and they had to be replaced, when off I could not see any fading after being on for a couple years. If after a while they don't grow on you then make a change.

Again, your hood stripes are awesome, and the dealer installed them. However, my question is are they after market, or factory available.

No you can't get stripes like mine from the factory.
