What the heck is this thing?

I tried to search for an answer, but to no avail...

We have traded in our 2013 MCS for a 2013 MC Clubman. One new thing I see is a red lens thingee above the tach. I have no clue what it is unless it is some kind of shift indicator. I can't see it while driving because the steering wheel is in the way.

So, what the heck is it?

LOVING the new Mini!!!!

It's the "armed" light for the factory anti theft system.

It you don't have a factory anti theft system, it doesn't do anything.

OK, thanks! I wonder why they don't put a trim matching piece there for vehichles not so equipt. I bet there might be some cool way to use that area for some goodies.

I plan to graft in a "dummy alarm" light in there one if these days.

If you want some cool mounts for the tach, check out CravenSpeed.com

Great stuff.

Why graft anything, you can get it programmed to flash even if you don't have the alarm. (Find someone with NCS Expert, look for coding on craigslist)

But on his '13 it will require to run 2 wires from the fuse box to a connector below the dash in conjunction with coding. My '10 didn't work with just coding.
