Is DDMWorks CAI CARB Approved?
I live in California (sucks for me) and their emission standards are more restrictive when it comes to aftermarket parts. I have a 2010 Mini Cooper S Clubman (it actually belonged to the owner of the dealership...only 9k miles on it...but i digress) and i was wondering if the DDMWorks CAI is CARB approved? So like if i went to a smog station would it be CARB exempt or CARB approved or neither? This is important before i drop the $$$ on the CAI and possibly also the hood air scoop for it.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Well i know the law is that (cant remember exact wording) if its 6 years or newer then you just pay for the smog abatement fee of like $8 but im just trying to think ahead for later on when i have to do smog checks
Yes you have 6 years that you do not have to smog it. So it a 10 you have until 2016 before you have to get it smogged. I know Cali suck for smog stuff and it just depends on the smog tech if he is going to give you grief about a intake the does not have the CARB sticker on it. But like I said before just keep your stock air box when it does come time to get it smogged just take the DDM out put in the stock box get the smog then put the DDM back in. I know its a pain in the A** but thats the price that you have to pay for living in california. (well that plus higher taxes, fuel cost, food cost and way to expensive property)
I hear ya lol..., i know on MiniMania.com they had a K&N Typhoon cai for my mini cooper thats carb approved...but k&n advertises it as not carb approved..so i cant really find reputable carb approved CAIs...
