R53 Resonator delete

Ok, I have spent the last 3 days researching the resonator delete for an R53, in my case a JCW. I had to go through NUMEROUS threads to get the information because none of them were specific to this mod. That's why I am starting this thread.
I just found a muffler shop here in Phoenix that came highly recommended. I stopped in and told them what I wanted to do, a resonator delete. They put the car on the lift, found the resonator, and said he would do it for $30. I was a little nervous thinking that was a little to cheap but I told him to go ahead and do it. I had him cut it out so that I could add it back in if I needed to. 45 minutes later its off the rack and being started. It sounded great!
I do not have any drone at highway speed, it's not loud at cruising speed but gets just loud enough to draw attention when you get on it. There seems to be a little more power and quicker throttle response. This could be all phsycological, I don't have any before and after numbers, just my butt dyno. When I drove it home, my son, who HATES my MINI, said it sounded really cool.
After reading a ton of threads on this mod it sounds like different cars have different results as far as the sound goes. I'm getting a little more burble and pop than I had. I would like more, but it is better than it was.
If you are thinking about doing it, just do it! Its the best $30 I have spent on a mod. I'm really happy that I did.
If you are in the Phoenix area and want the name of the shop, pm me. They were very meticulous about lining the pipe up and the welding. He used a mirror to check the top of the pipe and made sure there were no leaks.

I kept my Cat. for environmental reasons and CEL codes but had it fabricated to fit my Mynes V2 header flowing thru my JCW exhaust its nice, not to loud untill I step on it and that's when all hell breaks loose

I did mine a while back, at first it sounded not much different - then it got deeper and had the "burble" and I was happy

...but now it sounds terrible :(

It still burbles, sure - but it has a horrible "rasp" at a specific RPM, it's pretty embarrassing to be honest!

I'm going to change the whole exhaust soon, but until then...RASSSSSSP!

Pommy, sorry to hear yours sounds bad now. Mine is still sounding really good. I wonder if it's because the mufflers are getting burned out?

It's very likely that you're right. I never expected it to be a long term thing, to be honest.

Pushing what once went through two, through one, will no doubt expedite the baffle breakdown I'd imagine.

Alta going on soon

it could be a broken hanger, i have a rasp at 2700-2800 rpm and only in there, but i guess that creates the frequency to vibrate the crap out of the complex exhaust hanger

Sounds familiar...

There IS a lot of space under there, now that rear muffler has gone - never thought of vibrations. Worthy of a look

Thanks SS

YW, i know the rubber hangers dont last forever, one of mine broke off pulling my stock exhaust off, but since i have no garage and its NH, theres quite a bit of snow on the ground, were it doesnt bother me enough to fix it yet

i cant imagine the baffle being burned out
