poor acceleration

So my mini has been in and out of the shop for the past month and I just got it back (super stoked to drive my car again) and I've lost acceleration power. It feels like there isn't a complete air cycle but that is one of the things that the dealership "fixed." They said that they had to replace a pipe in the turbo and that that would fix the loss of power problem.

I just want to know if anyone else has dealt with a similar problem and could lend their insight.

Turbo?

I'm not able to see your car or your signature on this phone-app I have....but

Assuming you have an R56 (2007 or later) you're sure to get more replies in the 2nd Generation Forum here on NAM.

Best of luck.

Why are you going to a dealer with a 10 year old car?
Dealer mechanics usually know what is getting sold...and serviced under warranty....once you are well beyond a major redesign....there tends to be very little knowledge at some dealers...lets face it...many dealer mechanics are fresh from school...stay about 4 years...then move on to independent shops to make more $$....
As for your service adviser....lol....bet I guess the same could be same for your OP...you left out lots of important info...

If it is an 03, it is not a turbo, it is super charged (if it is an S). If you have an S and have lost power, it could be the bypass valve that has gone south.

I must agree about some mechanics at dealers...there not at all well seasoned by any means...at best all they are is parts changers... really very few know how to trouble shoot anything outside of something easy.. But if you have a deep wallet then sooner or later they will get it fixed for yah! ha ha think of it as helping them help you!

If your MINI service told you they replaced something on your turbo and your MINI is supercharged I would run and get my car out of there..lol.. Good luck!!

What dealer is this and get more details on the supposed pipe that needs to be replaced. Any codes or is the CEL on? Could be a slipping belt. Any noises? Give us as much detail as you can for us to help you.

Yeah I know that it is supercharged thats why I was confused about the turbo pipe he said that needed to be replaced. Also I had the bypass valve replaced at the dealer (maybe they screwed up the fix). But the sound that it makes sounds like it is coming from the air intake. Possibly the filter is clogged and I just need to clean it. I plan on doing this as soon as I have the time. I will try and get a video of the sound it makes when accelerating.

Well, I don't think that the air filter would be the problem unless it is totally clogged. You might also check the IC boots to see if there is a leak.

I wonder if the dealer's SA dumbed down the explanation of the work done to match what they believed the level of the owner was....the old known your audience thing done wrong....a good SA should be an educator, and advisor, with the heart of a teacher....
Any more background?
Codes, lites, noises?

Take a picture of the itemized repair receipt from your dealer and show it to us; we are all very interested to see if in fact the dealer installed a 'turbo' part into a supercharged R53.
