Hi folks,

Our CMJCW arrived at the dealer last night and I was checking it out today before they get it into service to start the prep. Something i noticed about the exhaust.

I really like the large, angular tips, but i noticed the tips seem to be attached to the bumper, with the actual smaller exhaust pipe sitting inside it.

I assume they do this to allow the largest diameter tip as possible, but keep it from getting too hot and/or vibrating and melting the plastic bumper.

My question though is, does this mean the JCW exhaust on a factory unit has a restrictive exhaust similar to the standard model? that actual exhaust flange has a very small diameter....kind of surprised me...

And I'm wondering if the exhaust I get on a factory JCW is the same as the JCW exhaust from the Mini accessory shop(other than the "JCW" etching on the accessory unit)

I bet the actual exhaust piping is the same on all of them. There are two versions of the "accessory" JCW exhaust, one for cars with the aero kit and one for cars without - the tips are different due to the bumper cutouts. They may appear different from the factory exhaust because the tips are actually attached to the piping on the accessory versions. Kinda sad to hear the factory JCW tips don't have the embossed logo :(

 

well, all I can tell you is that on RealOEM, the ALL4s, the JCW after market kit and the CM JCW muffler have 3 different part number
