Rebuilding cvt, couple questions

Hello community, my friend has an 04 mini that stopped moving. I removing the engine and trans and found a broken cvt drive belt, does anyone know a cheap replacement source? And if anyone knows a generic cvt fluid substitute I'd appreciate it. Back info car had 180k with no trans service when the belt snapped, I can pull belt chunks out the drain plug

Not one response? Does everyone here just throw them away or has anyone actually worked on their auto

Remove and replace....even the few 3rd party rebuilds (by pro's) are often failures....so many they are rare...
Good luck.....
The CVT seems simple...but is actually very complex...more so than one might think...that's why they cost 6500$ .

Buy a good used CVT from a wrecked Mini. Once it's fixed, sell it and never get another Mini with a CVT.

+1

I would be glad I got 180k miles out of it without a service and consider it a blessing.

I hear you but the owner is on a bUdget, and the belt should be easy to swap, I dropped the front subframe and pulled the motor and trans. Well see how it goes
