Travelling to Chicago (Rockford) from DC
Good Day!
My Wife and I are taking the Countryman out to the midwest for a business / pleasure trip from DC. We've been out to Ohio and WV plenty, but any great roads we should take / try while heading west?
Also, since the 2013s don't have jacks anymore.. thoughts on tools / emergency items to bring? I already got my slime/compressor kit and my faithful Dynaplug.. do you think I need to carry a jack with those two backups, and is it better to just repair with the tire mounted (even with the dynaplug?)
Thanks!
Hope to see lots of Waves along the way!
Oh, by the way, the business trip is test driving/piloting new hovercraft on the river..
We may even try to make it to Summerfest in Ottawa,IL if anyone is out that way.

Some pics of the road trip
From DC through WV, PA, OH, IN then into IL.
Millennium Park, Navy Pier, lots of runs on lakeshore, some wacky tiki restaurant, a dairy attraction, a cathedral, some hovercraft and water taxi and lots of great weather!
Saw lots of MINIs, only 1 Paceman and 2 CM. lots of clubman and MCS. A lot of folks taken second glances at the CM to make sure it's a MINI.

We are now at 3500 miles on our new CM! what a great way to break her in all the way. She did really good on the mountain roads.
w: I seem to look twice with the CMS, I guess cause that grille really is different on that wide front. I love the chrome grill on our Justa CM!
While driving on the expressway, I was way more comfortable leaving her in sports mode so she reacted quicker for lane changes and avoidances.

Glad you are enjoying your trip... Nice pics!

Sorry to say I spotted this thread so late...
Can't really recommend any specific road to take as most of IL roads are straight shots with little to no elevation changes.
Was hoping to see some posts from members of Chicago Mini Motoring as I am sure their members know of some decent roads to motor on.
BTW, very nice ride you got there! Love the color on your CM!
Well, enjoy your trip thru the Land of Lincoln and if you can post up some more pics!
