Windshield Washer System Failure

My 06 MCS has suddenly developed washer problems. The rear stopped working altogether and the front pulses a dual squirt or two then just drools. The reservoirs are filled, the holes have been cleared and I can here the pump running when the switches are engaged. I noticed that the headlight washers work normally. Can someone please tell me: #1 Where are the washer pumps (are there two or do the front and rear nozzles share the same pump)? #2 What is the easiest way to access the reservoir bottles so that I can check for a clog(s)? #3 Is there another useful Utube video available to assist me? They have been very helpful in the past.

Remove pass side front wheel and fender liner. Washer bottle and pump (only one) are right behind the wheel

Thanks. Does this pump also activate headlight washers?

Most likely clogged.....
A pin/needle to clean the nozel works ...very common issue with the rear.

Here is a diagram for reference. Have you cleaned all the holes with a pin or thin wire. You might need to dig deeper and see if there is a clog in the line. Also, the strainers could be clogged a little, they set in front of the pumps.

Headlight washer tank and pump is on the left side ( driver ) and is activated when you have the headlights on and I believe it sprays the headlights the first time, then it's like every third time you spray the windshield. They work in unison.

ON the right hand side , under the quarter panel is the windshield washer tank and pump.

There is a washer tank up to 1/2005 production.

Check the strainers on #4 .

For the rear, make sure to clean the spray nozzle, again with the pin. Sometimes people have gotten cogs back by the non return valve and had to replace it.

I had the same issue, check you part #11 Non return valve. When I checked mine was cracked and it looked like someone had glued it before instead of buying a $2 part, check to see if you see liquid between your hood and the Sound Insulation cover if you see it you will need to take it off and see if the hose came off from one of the return valves or a cracked valve.

My front windshield washer also had a sudden change in operation with greatly reduced output on all four jets. I took that to mean that a clog had developed and since the only part designed to clog is the screen on the pump inlet, I looked at that first. I ended up taking the reservoir off the car to empty it. This turned out to be the right choice when I removed the pump but the inlet screen had come loose and remained in the tank. With the tank removed, retrieving the screen was easy. I tried running it through the dishwasher and that seemed to remove some of the black slime and I used an old toothbrush to get the rest.

I guess I need to make sure the fluid in there has sufficient alcohol to stop the microbe growth...

Cheers!
