Question No oil or water gauges?

Hey Guys, took delivery of my GP2 on Wednesday. I love love love it!!!
I do have concerns about the lack of information about the engine.
Here in Australia I have no gauge for oil temp or water temp. Is it the same with you guys? Are you concerned that you dont have access to this information and has anyone installed after market gauges?
I found this astounding for a 'track' designed car, especially when my 06 JCW had oil, water AND a boost gauge!
Any input would be great

No gauges in the states either. I use a ScanGaugeII to get most of the information that I want. boost can easily be programmed into the display as well.

Scangauge II works well. If you prefer round type multi-gauge the Aeroforce Interceptor has most of the same functions as the Scangauge II but in a round, gauge pod mountable design.

I agree. Even the extra gauges Mini sells in as an option are lame. Water temp is good, but lateral G's and relative torque?

THat said, I liked the way they look so I got the water gauge and lateral G gauge for mine, but I wish that 2nd one was more useful, like oil temp, oil pressure, boost, etc.

Is it really true that oil temp is available? I had thought it not. The three things I would like displayed are oil temp, oil pressure and coolant temp.

The ScanGauge II needs to be programmed in order to read oil temp. I think Way Motor Works sells them already programmed. I bought mine at Advance Auto Parts, and here is the response I got from the ScanGauge folks the other day:

We do not have oil pressure yet for MINI. In order to use the XGauges codes we currently have you will need a special program. To get the unit update with the special MINI program please send the unit into our office at:

We are also getting near production on a set of OBDII driven gauges that will look like the factory tach, if that is something that interests you. First two available will be boost and engine temp. There is some more information in this thread.

Yes we sell them preprogrammed with the oil temp so you don't have to send them in.

Does anyone make water & oil temp gauges with the dark face, so they look stock?

I second that Zuluracerx, fairly easy to install and looking forward to seeing how hot the darn thing runs!
