Has anyone had a manual transmission warrantied out (2013 MCS) ?
Has anyone had a manual transmission warrantied out (2013 MCS) ?
I had my car in for a warranty fix twice now and the dealer has been great as far as service goes.
On the 2nd time I was talking over with the SA and he stated Mini may look into changing the transmission. I was not thrilled but what am I gonna do. Hoping it wasn't going to come to this, it seems it may. I go to the dealer tomorrow for an oil change and will have them look at it but idk what to do. Has anyone ever had a transmission issue like this?

AZ lemon law states "tried to fix 3+ times". Varies by state.
I hope this is the end of your saga!
It's depressing because its my first new car and at 8600 miles it needs a new transmission. It's embarrassing for the same reason. I understand they are fixing it but its not like I even had the car for long so I have a right to feel that way. Ill write a saga if I want, I rarely ever complain and as said before I have a reason. I'm sure if it was your car you wouldn't proudly walk around and explain to everyone that asked about your car that's new, in the shop for the 3rd time for the same reason that now it needs a new transmission.
I can understand that it's depressing to be without your baby, but focus on the fact that the transmission will be brand new when you get it back! Lots of motoring to do after that!
No need to be embarrassed about it, though. You didn't assemble the transmission; you didn't make the parts; you didn't create the design. You did absolutely nothing wrong, you simply got unlucky.
Sometimes parts are bad from the beginning. That's why there are quality inspectors. Sometimes flaws that are present will escape their notice, especially if the flaw is only something that manifests after some time and use. That's why they have warranties.
This does not seem to be a common problem. If it really is one-in-a-million, it shouldn't happen to you again. (If it does, then it's probably time to Lemon Law the thing.)
No, it's not a source of pride to have the car broken so early. But you did nothing wrong--so there's nothing to be embarrassed about, IMHO.

If I were you, I'd file under Lemon Law, take your money and put into another '13 MCS so you have the piece of mind that this issue would not plague you down the road even though you're getting a new transmission.
Sh*t happens. Sorry that it happened to you, it sounds like you got the "one in a million" bad part. Manual transmissions generally don't have a lot of problems.
For perspective, go do a search on the 2001/2002 Acura MDX transmission. Acura warranty replaced a LOT of transmissions in the 2001s and 2002s, recalled them all to install a fix, and then changed the design for 2003 and later.
I'm surprised that the latest generation of dual clutch 8 speed automatics aren't blowing up everywhere - those things are incredibly complicated. I'll take the simplicity of a manual any day.

If they replace it, no biggie. I had a buddy get a 2011 when they first same out and within 600 miles he got a new tranny because something was wrong with 4th and 5th and it whirled and had an occasional grind. Just a bad part that needed to be replaced. Not common, but occasionally parts are just made bad. Trust me, it sucks but being in a manufacturing facility I totally understand how "it just happens" (PS I work in medical manufacturing so QC is super strict and tight and we find out of spec parts at a further operation or down the line)
