Recoding the windows to come up with the top

Is that a thing that can be done?

It's curious why Mini didn't do this themselves - which makes me think it isn't possible. The windows can only go fully up after the top has been latched down and is there a sensor that tells the ECU that the top is latched, rather than just closed?

The convertible (R52/R57) does it, but has a full automatic top with no manual latch. The windows only go up after the roof is fully closed. With a latch, the car doesn't know that you really want the windows up when locking the latch.

Would it be possible to make the Top's toggle put up the windows either before it brings up the top or, when the top is already up and that toggle is pushed? We know that toggle can talk to the windows, since it pos them up when you continue to hold it for a few seconds after dropping the top.

it doesn't work.. something to do with not having pinch sensors on the roadster. it would have been killer to code the remote to raise the windows like most mini's!

I have the manual top, and I always forget to leave the engine running while I put the top up, so I can get the windows to come back up. They will go down, but then I have to restart to manually put them back up. Very annoying...

Interesting. On mine, the engine doesn't have to be running. Just needs the key in the ignition.

I have comfort access, so the key is usually in my pocket.

What drives me up the wall is how I hit the button to stop the engine and it chimes to let me know the spoiler is up but it won't let you put it down until you restart the engine. Cmon, give me like 15 seconds to drop it down before you cut the power to that toggle :(

Ah. Never occurred to me there was a downside to that. Well, other than the empty slot in the dash. I actually didn't order CA for the same reason I DID order the (useless) rear fog lights: just to plug a hole.
