Fan Resistor Upgrade....The Last Word

I've been contacted by several members over the past year wanting to get the supplier name and part number information for the fan resistor upgrade that I used on my 2002 MCS.

Here it is:

My resistor was purchased from Mouser Electronics. Mouser's phone number is 1-800-346-6873

The p/n is 284-HS100-0.33

The specs are: 100 Watt 0.33 OHM 5% Arcol wire wound resistor chassis mount.

I mounted my resistor to the aluminum brace on the drivers side (under the bonnet). Drill four small holes in a location where the resistor will mount completely flush against the brace. You want all of the surface area you can get to transfer the heat. Applied a generous coat of heat sink paste to the resistor plate and bolt it tight to the bracket. The wiring to the fan assembly is self explanatory. Use heavy wire to carry the load.
