No window movement when opening-shutting door.

Noticed when I open-shut the car door that the little window movement-blip wasn't there.
Then down the road I hit the toggle to lower the drivers side window and it didn't work. Thanks to Braminators post about the fuses and looking at a video, I popped the fuse cover near the drivers door. From what I can tell the fuse at f1 is good.
Any other thoughts on why the window-toggle doesn't work?
Thanks
Kathy

You can try this:
Instructions

  • 1 Insert the keys and turn on the ignition. It does not matter whether you start it or not.
  • 2 Put the window all the way up (if you are able).
  • 3 Press and hold the window switch in the up position for 10 or more seconds. Do this with the door closed.
  • 4 Open the door to make sure the window drops as it should. Close the door to make sure it goes back up again.

Sounds like it could be a bad window motor. I had a similar symptoms a few years ago, and it was the window motor. If you give the area right above the speaker on the affected door a good knock, it may jolt the motor back to life for a bit. Only for a bit though...it'll need replacing.

Thanks sdiver.
Looked up a few things and it sounds like the motor most likely is the problem. I'll try the "knock" and see if that gives me a little more time.

Yea,

If the window reset and the fonzie method don't work, looks like the window motor.
Can you hear the motor clicking at all when you press the window toggle switch, you will have to listen by the area you did the fonize test on. Just want to make sure the window regulator is not jammed.

Let us know.

Yes, there's a slight click. I'll be taking it in soon. Was just a little freaked, remembering back to when the door wouldn't open. At that time I could at least roll the window down and reach the outside handle. This little car keeps me focused, just figuring out escape routes...

What production month / year do you have there was a split year in 6/2005? I can show you the parts.

Thanks for the update.

I've been using the Fonzie Fix for about 2 years now. Can't see why I need to take it to bits if I can keep it working. As a fix it's Fast and Cheap. Guess what it is not..

All is fixed and at a fair price, considering the time it involved. However, I would have preferred the "Fonzie" fix, had it worked....
