Oddball request.

Have a Chili Red MCS with a black top. The interior is tan and black, leather heated seats. If there is anyone out there with a red and black interior that would like to swap.....

Or perhaps there is a shop out there that wouldn't mind doing the swap. Stock interior for whatever you got. Even Steven. :smile:

Would you be at all interested in the Space Cloth interior? With heated seats. Where in NC are you located by the way??

 

Are you referring to the Dark Grey Space Cloth? And as MINIUSA.com says, "WITH BLACK BOLSTERS AND PANTHER BLACK INTERIOR DOOR CASING."

Normal or sports seats? And any experience playing with interiors? I ask cause I don't have a lot of experience removing panels and seats.

 

They're the sports seats. I do have some experience with interior panels - not with the MINI, but with other cars from installing stereos and fixing things. I'll have to see the beige leather in the flesh to see how I like the color - don't think the MINIUSA site does it justice. I live in Winston-Salem, but I'm working in Houston at the moment but I'll be driving back over the 4th of July. Check out a car with Space Cloth and I'll check out the beige leather to see what we both think. The Space Cloth has held up very nicely and looks much nicer in person than in photos. I'm flying to W-S this weekend so I'll go by Flow to check out the leather then I'll PM you to see if you're interested. If you're dead set on Red/Black leather, I've seen some done that look very nice but I have no idea of the cost. Of course then you'll have an extra set of covers.

 

Swapping out interior and exterior parts and panels is fine as long as you agree to the exchange. Since All MCS and MC share common interior things except MCS always comes with sports seats.

Have fun. No harm making the changes, mix and match.

 

I was hoping for the red/black, but a blackish grey is good too. Not so sure about going from leather to cloth though. Course, I wouldn't have to worry as much about the young'ins car seat tearing up my leather anymore! :smile:

 

Oh yeah - I'm sure I'll have to get some sort of blessing from the little lady as well, but it's generally a "it's your car, I don't care what you do, I can't drive it anyway!" She has her Minivan which is the main family hauler - the S just hauls butt!! I'll be in touch.

 

Sounds a lot like my situation. :smile: I'm 40 minutes or so from Winston Salem, so it's not a long haul.

 

Talked with the wife about it last night, and her only response was, "SO why did we pay for leather?"

She's cool with changing interiors, but has restricted me to a leather replacement.

 

If you can't find anyone to trade interiors with you, there is a very good shop called Tops and Trends, just outside of Winston Salem that can do the red/black leather for you. They did mine, and everyone that looks at my car can't believe it's not stock. I have a Cooper, not an S, and it came with the red interior, so red panels were already in place, but they could probably do that for you too. Anything for a price, right?

 

Everything has it's price, unfortunately I can't afford any price. :smile: That's why I was hoping for a swap. But thank you for the information!

I want to say that the MCS doesn't have the option for a red/black interior, but you might be able to get one with the red tartan cloth seats. I know you can't get red/black leather stock on the MCS though.

Oh well... I'm sure there is someone out there that wouldn't mind swapping, or a really nice vendor willing to trade. :smile:

 

I also have sport cloth seats and woild like black leather seats if anyone is interested in a even swap.

Looked at the tan leather while I was in W-S over the weekend and don't think it would look right - or for that matter, the Space Cloth looking right in your car since the carpet is tan as well if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, good luck. By the way, I've seen VAMini's custom leather job and it is quite nice.
