Are There Parts Missing ? - Need Help Please
Hi everyone.
2 days ago, I purchased a 2005 Cooper S JCW.
When I looked at the engine bay yesterday, I
noticed that there is a large opening at the front
of the JCW airbox. Should there be some piping
there, or is it made to suck in air from the engine bay?

Can you take a picture of the whole engine bay from farther away?
It looks like You are missing the hose that goes to the front of the engine and scoops cold air in from behind the grill..getting hot air from the engine bay is bad.
Not sure if you need the hose from a jcw or if a regular s would be fine.
My guess at one point this car had a cold air intake of some sort on it and the prior owner either could not find or forgot to put the hose back on...it's just a theory though.
Not a huge deal but you might see a small performance boost by finding that hose to bring colder air in.

Hi, I am so amazed by the fact that I asked the same exact question yesterday on minitorque!
I had JCW parts installed on my R53 and the garage forgot to put back this tube.
I have to put it back when I have the right tools, soon.

Looks like you are only missing part 12 from here I can't remember what it does but given its odd shape I would guess something with air velocity and noise.

Judging by the illustration, #12 & #18 are the missing parts.
I contacted the MINI dealer today who originally sold the vehicle
brand new.They have asked me to bring it down to
the dealership, for them to look at the my concern!

Finally had the time to drive down to the local MINi dealership last Friday.
They verified that parts #12 & #18 are missing according to the above
illustration, which are 13721491748 & 13711491745. These parts are
triple the US price here in Oz....
Can anyone recommend a good reliable MINI parts supplier (new or used), that ships
internationally?
