apologies if this question has already been asked or is being asked in the wrong forum but :

would the UPD01006 Jan 13' update that is on the http://www.mini.com/connectivity/sof...ate/index.html site work on the english mini's ? if i downloaded this and installed it would it void my warranty ? i dont seem to see such an equivelant on mini.co.uk.

also has anyone used this? if so are there any major changes?

I'm from Italy and the italian site, talking about software updates, gives you the link to the "connectivity" one.
This means to me that http://www.mini.com/connectivity/ is the only source we have in common and the right place to get the right upgrade.
I upgraded mine and nobody complained about it.

Nothing visible. From the guidei understood that it is just a compatibility update.
Actually, if you use tubein radio through the connected, it shows you every single cover of the song playing.
Buti don't know if this fact depends on the last update.

Given that mini.com is the global MINI site, and that you're using an official MINI update I wouldn't think it would be an issue. There doesn't appear to be regionalized software updates for Connected (other that the Aussies I believe who can't have Connected for legal reasons apparently) so you should be just fine...

 

it says you neew a usb device and the usb port option, but how do you install it once its plugged into the car? (haven't tried it yet, just wondering for when i can get around to it)

 

It's extremely simple... Insert the drive, start the car. Go to Settings, scroll down and select update connected... Wait.
