'10 MCS Swirl Removal

Well, my MINI was long overdue for some love, so I had the chance to polish her up a bit. I am a complete newb to polishing and I don't have as much free time as I used to, but today I took the initial step on polishing my hood.

Products were all ordered from Detailer's Domain and I'm happy with their service and Phil has been great in answering any questions that I've had along the way. I don't have a gazillion products and towels and such to finish her like a true professional, but so far I'm really happy with the outcome.

Here's a shot of just the hood that I was able to polish. I was able to take out nearly all the swirls, so I'm really happy that I could do this and it wasn't a wasted investment in buying all these crazy expensive products.

Your immediate family has my deepest sympathies. You are now irreversibly hooked. I know of what I speak. I just today spent a good five hours cleaning and detailing after several days of very sloppy weather. Spring wax strip, clay bar, machine polish and wax will soon follow. Have fun keeping your MINI Looking the very best it can.

lol. I was more like that when I had my BMW. The MINI, not so much, but I am starting to feel the need to take care of her more. I don't think I can wash and wax her as often as I did back then, but I will for sure spend the necessary time to make her look good again.

Great work there, John.

Just had my detailer out today to do the Countryman, actually. Rolled over 30k last month, been regularly maitaining myself for the past 20k, but it's always nice to have a licensed, bonded and insured professional give it the 1-2.

I can give you a nice list of list of awesome products available, that I recommend with experience on black MINIs.

I researched all the high end polishes that the vendors sell and in the end went with Meguires ultra compound. It did the job great. If I was looking for a show car finish I am sure another round with ultra polish would have done the trick, but I don't have a show car. Super easy to work with and inexpensive.

There are thousand of products available in market which helps you to remove the swirls marks.. but be careful when you choose any of them because some products can give you good result but they actually harm your paint.

I think I asked plenty of questions before I bought all my products from Phil@detailersdomain so I trust his opinion and I trust my own judgment.

Very nice job, boy what a difference! I just used an entire quart of the M105 Ultra-Cut Compound on my MCS using the yellow polishing pads, the M105 works fast leaving a beautiful shine!

Ah yes

I'll be moving over to M101, same cutting power with less dust

The only downside is that M101 is relatively more expensive than M105.

Love the beading that Polymer Net Shield leaves. Topped it off again today with some Sonax wax. Silky smooth....
