R50/53 Check Original ECU software
Check Original ECU software
I bought a 2003 mini cooper s a month ago. It was sold as a normal mini cooper s with 163 HP, but after a run on a dyno it showed following results:
Engine Hp: 195
Wheel Hp: 140
Loss in transmission : 55 hp
So do you guys know if that is normal, and is it possible to check if it is the origial ECU without taking it to the shop?
And is it normal with such an amount of power loss in the transmission?

I'm curious too....
unless you took the ENGINE OUT, and connected the crank to a dyno, that number is just a "estimate" based upon "typical" losses to the drivetrain, Alternator. A/C, friction losses, etc.
163 HP rated...
Wheel Hp: 140 on the dyno
Seems pretty good for a stock 10+ year old car if the dyno #'s are accurate.

Something is not right. You will lose about 15% thru the drive train but not 30+%. So I think their Dyno reading for the engine is BS.

Sure in some ways, this MIGHT be true...but not typicaly reported.
