R50/53 help! broke my shifter collar and arm
help! broke my shifter collar and arm
I have a later 2004 mcs and just tried to install a craven short shifter. unfortunately when trying to remove the shifter from the collar, I managed to break the collar (white color) in half. I also managed to crack the plastic arm holding the other pivot point as well.
I know mini doesn't sell these parts separately, do I need to buy the entire shift lug assembly? if so, does anybody know if a r50 one would work? I'm screwed in that I need it to fit the craven ss I have as well being that it was made for 04-06 only.
is this what I need to buy? http://www.ecstuning.com/ES47324/PriceAlert/
does anybody have what I'm looking for they want to get rid of?

They show two boxes there. Cond A and Cond B. This is in reference to what cables / box you have now.
In either case, ECS or OEM, you first would need to determine that info, and go from there. Cond A refers to a box with ribs on the face of it, and B refers to a smooth box assembly. Here is an image from MINI.

When choosing cables or box, best to go with what you see and not prod date. I have a B&M SSK, and it was necessary to get to the box by dropping the center exhaust pipe and box's access panel. Not sure how the Craven one is designed so cant help ya there..

According to Craven's site, they don't make a craven short shifter for model A which is for pre 2004 models, mine is the newer revision so its the model B from visual inspection and production date of the car I was able to determine that. I was curious as to whether a non S car would use the same part such as when I'm searching on eBay, I can widen that to both R50 and R53.
I have everything apart, it's just a matter of sourcing the broken parts. The part from ECS does note that its genuine mini and even has the word MINI injected on it.

As I stated above and will restate...speaking from experience.....
" When choosing cables or box, best to go with what you see and not prod date...."
Examine the shape/style of the box in the car and in this case, throw prod dates out the window.....call craven and tell them
which style box you have. That should help.
