R50/53 can a pulley mod be returned to stock?
can a pulley mod be returned to stock?
i know that the stock pulley is pressed on or something, but is there a way to get a stock sized pulley back on? i want to do the 15% mod, but dont want to do any permanent mods to my car in order to maintain a decent resale value. any ideas?
Other than buying a CUSTOM sized CNC pulley (made just like the reductions), no....and if you do this, it will be as obvious that the pulley is not stock...it will looks just like you have a reduction...the mounting method is different...the construction is different. Short of CHANGING OUT THE WHOLE SC, not much you can do......
and many rebuilt superchargers DO NOT COME WITH A PULLEY unless you buy it from MINI.
Removing the pulley with a pulley puller DEFORMS and destroys the stock pulley...
It is put on HOT, and Pressed on..it cools, and the metal shrinks holding the pulley in place...hense the term HOT PRESSED.
One question....
Since Gen1 cars are all about 5-12 years old, how much of a loss do you think you are going to take?

^^Absolutely^^
A 15% pulley should not reduce your resale in any way, if someone would tell you it does, they either don't know Mini's or are just trying to take advantage of you.
Honestly, anyone that would know the difference would know that it shouldn't matter & if they told you it did, they would be trying to put one over on you.

Most the time if you try to press the pulley back on you will damage the supercharger, I did it once successfully, but had the supercharger off the car.
As for a 15% pulley hurting resale value, not really. If someone is looking to buy your car and has test drove a bunch of stock cars and then drives yours with a pulley they will love it.
