Thumbs up OEM R56 JCW Exhaust

Category: Drivetrain

I'm interested in getting my hands on a factory JCW exhaust for my R56S. If you've got a take-off laying around that you want to unload, name your price and shipping cost to the DC/Baltimore area.

I have one I could sell. Are you looking for the JCW downpipe as well?

Thanks for replying. I'm really only interested in the rear part of the exhaust, from the clamp back. Do you have any photos on hand??

Is there any difference in the downpipes? I was under the assumption they were only different from the downpipe back.

After Derk secures his, I'll be looking for one in the Chicago area.

The JCW downpipe is a different part number but I don't know what differences there actually are. I know when you do a JCW tuning kit, you only swap out the rear portion of the exhaust, though.

Hmm different part numbers, but exact same cost. Down to the cent. Probably the same part.

Yea, they may actually be the same exact part. Strange though that they have different part numbers.
Oh well, no matter in this case since the interest is in the DP back portion of the exhaust.

Still on the lookout. I'm interested in particular in the rear muffler, from the middle clamp back. I'd consider downpipe back, too, though.

If you find one, you should probably get the mid pipe as well. The JCW does not have a second cat, but the MCS does. The sound difference without deleting the cat may be pretty minor. Unless you have already deleted the second cat and resonator....

they don't come up too often, and sell quickly on the market. Good luck.

Have fun,
Mike

Thanks. I thought that was the difference in the mid-pipe but I wasn't sure.

And yeah, they do seem to go really fast. I've missed a few on here, so I was hoping being a bit more pro-active would help my cause.

IMHO just do a custom setup. I built a custom 2.5" catback Flowmaster exhaust for less than a factory setup would cost you. Even at 2.5" its less drone than stock.

The factory setup starts at about 2.23" just after the front connector and then reduces just after the resonator so a 2.5" catback system is better matched to the downpipe.

Have scottab's old jcw tuning kit rear section. The one you weld or clamp on. Good shape not showroom but will clean up nice. 150 plus shipping

digolfa & PinkMiso: I'm picking something up this weekend. If it falls through I'll let you know.

MiniMe2011: It just so happens I should have a stock exhaust (DP back) in a little over a week. We can discuss then.

Great Derk,
I should have the S car out of the body shop by then, I'm taken this one all the way back to stock... (DP) ?
I am trying to do this for a friend of the family, who cant afford a new car for their sons graduation, so I'm looking to donate the car, so I'm trying keep the cost very low. Please let me know when you ready, the kid could use a break...

Derk,
Did you get your exhaust installed? Did you put the resonator in place, or just a straight pipe?

Do you like the change?

I'm thinking of going to the JCW exhaust, my aftermarket exhaust is droning after my latest mods.

Thanks,
Mike

Cooper Crap, did their prototype R56 on my about 6 months ( I think ) Andy Removed resonator and did a straight pipe to the end and split (like stock ) at the end... If you go to http://www.coopercrap.com/r56-catback-exhaust/ you can see and hear it. It mellowed a bit since then, and any gain in sound I picked-up in power and mileage. He doe's a hell of a job. I've loved every minute it.

I actually ended up with the exhaust off a car with the JCW tuning kit, so it has the stock Cooper S mid-pipe with the JCW rear muffler. For me (and for the price) it sounds and looks great. Noticeably throatier than the stock S exhaust without drowning out conversation at highway speeds. I'm quite happy.

That looks (and sounds) really good!

I have a full JCW factory exhaust (from the downpipe back) in my 07 MCS that came off a 2009 JCW.

I also have the OEM exhaust with about 20k on it.

I'll sell either one. I'm in So Cal. Must pick up - not interested in shipping.

Jeff
