Nobody Can Hear Me....

Hi All-

Brand new (6 days now) first time MINI owner. LOVE everything about my little Moxie..just have a problem/question. Nobody can hear me when I'm using the Bluetooth phone feature. I've seen a few threads on moving the microphone, but they are all at least 4 years old and my coupe doesn't have the same overhead housing as the pics in those threads.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I asked my MA about it and he wasn't sure why, but that maybe because I'm a girl, my voice isn't picking up as well. That, or the cell signal isn't very good when I'm using it. I live in OC, CA, so I'm not really buying that one. I always have excellent reception here.
Any tips, tricks and help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks much,
Kim

Different set up on the R58 R59.

Microphone pickup is on the steering column much like the R57 MINI convertible.

You can see the like microphone on the steering column , its the little bump on the right hand side next to the tach.

Here is the user manual: Click Here

Page 197 .

Controls
Adjusting the volume
Turn the **** until the desired volume is se‐
lected. The setting is stored for the remote con‐
trol currently in use.
The vehicle automatically adjusts the volume of
the microphone on the telephone and the vol‐
ume of the called party. Depending on the mo‐
bile phone, the volumes may need to be ad‐
justed.
The settings can only be created during a call
and must be adjusted separately for each tele‐
phone. The settings are deleted when the tele‐
phone is unpaired.
1. "Settings"
2. "Tone"
3. "Volume settings"
4. Select the desired setting: "Microphone" or
"Loudspeak."
5. To set: turn the MINI joystick.
6. To save: press the MINI joystick.

That's for the navigation version but I believe the standard radio is the same.

Also What I have found helpful is talking directly to the microphone area on steering column.

Thanks
