Glass cleaner opinions/recommendations/preferences?

Just curious ...
1. what the general opinions out there are on the glass cleaner products? Prima Clarity? Adam's Glass Cleaner? SprayWay?

2. Exterior surface of the glass sunroof? Do folks use glass cleaner before/after waxing (e.g. With wax as you dry products like Prima Hydro)...

I've tried tons of stuff now, and I have to say, NOTHING works like CLAY!
Buy a clay kit, and you can use windex or the supplied lube on the exterior, and just plain old water works fine for the interior windshield

invisible glass and a microfiber and i'm good to go. been using it for years.

i was always told that if you have tints not to use windex as the ammonia will harm the tint. not sure if it's true or just an internet rumor.

I periodically clay the windshield, usually when I am waxing the rest of the MINI.

During washes, all the glass (sunroof too), gets hit with Hydro just like the rest of the car.

In between and on the inside, if I need a cleaning, I use Stoner's Invisible Glass. I have also used SprayWay and thought it was very good. If I had an easy place to get it locally, I'd probably opt for it over the Stoner's. I tried Prima Clarity, but did not like it - there are a lot of people that do like it though.

When doing a full cleaning/polishing/waxing, I clay the windows after I clay the car and will clean the windows after waxing. This is to remove any dusting that may have been kicked up after polishing.

During quick cleanings, I'll wash the car and clean the windows and spray hydro afterwards over all surfaces.

I would stay away from windex for the car though. It ruins tints due to the ammonia and it can really dry out the rubber seals around the windows. Clarity isn't bad, but it doesn't need I be anything fancy. Just not contain ammonia.

I personally do like Clarity. The glass sparkles and it repels rain, too. Stoners is OK, but using newspaper as suggested can leave lots of ink where you don't want it.

Instead of buying pre-formulated window cleaner for $6 or $7, I mix my own w/ 1 part rubbing alcohol w/ 4 parts water......works great and only cost about 50 cents per squirt bottle.
Yes, I am a cheep screw.

Recently purchased Prima Clarity and I am very impressed. I did just clay the windows, but I thought Clarity produced great looking windows.

a couple of times a year I run over all my outside glass with a single edge razor blade aka window scraper. You'll be amazed what comes up if you've never done this before.

I clay as well. Don't buy special new clay for your glass, save the stuff you used on the paint and rotate this to your glass hunk. next time you buy new clay for the paint, hand down etc etc.

also important: clean your wiper blades when you clean your glass. The crud they remove from the windows often sticks to the blades. When you wash the car be sure to wash the blades checking for stuck on bug guts chunks and the like

I like the Invisible Glass for quick cleanings, but I agree that clay and/or a razor blade (obviously for exterior only) are great every once in a while for getting all the really stuck-on crud.

Know what works amazing on glass?

Wash car.. Dry car..

Cerama-brite. The same stuff used for glass cooktops!

Gets it clean... Super clean.. Leaves a nice polished coating as well.. Been using it for years.. Put it in, let it haze.. Wipe it off, it's amazing at the gunk it strips off.

Try it,

For side glass and interiors I use Stoners.

Make your own. 50% distilled water, 50% isopropyl alcohol and a tablespoon of white vinegar.
No streaks :P

I must be in the minority... i very rarely use a cleaner on windows.

Wash with car soap, rinse, dry the glass first before drying the rest of the car, and my windows are sparkling clean.

I do apply aquapel every 6-8 months though, keeps those pesky hard water spots from forming on the glass.
