Said goodbye to my CM yesterday

After 18 months and 22K miles, I finally got tired of the 150+ mile round trip to my dealer. I've had several issues with the car on and off. I might have put up with it a bit longer had it not been for the fact that even a minor issue meant 3+ hours of travel time.

I also realized that the RF tires were getting very noisy and harsh, so it was a good time to bail. The final straw was when the dealer "updated" my car with the wrong firmware, killing the voice control and several other minor features in the process. They said they needed the car for 2-3 days to re-flash the memory.

It's a shame because I really did like the car a lot. If the dealer was closer, I'd have soldiered on. My son's R58 (purchased on the same day at the same dealer) has been 100% perfect - no so much as a burned out light bulb in 18 months of service.

I poured one out for your/your old countryman
As soon as the new 3 series diesel hits our shores, I think we will be selling ours as well. Not because we don't like the car, but oil leaks, and the clutch issue has sort of sealed the fate of the car

The '2013' clutch has substantially changed my motoring experience for the better, although the CM4 still weighs the same and the engine doesn't give out any more low-end torque...

I completely understand how you feel in the times, drives to the dealer. I'll be ordering a new car Thursday because the CMS is just not reliable enough to get me through.

Good luck in your next car
