8" sub enough?

Is an 8" woofer enough for an R56 or should I step up to a 10"?

I have an audio on LrX 5.1k amp and will be running Hertz high energy 3 ways and an Alpine double din... Just trying to decide on a woofer setup.

I have two Hertz 8"s...but not sure if they will provide enough depth for that big of a space

Thanks

All depends on your preferences. I like the range flexibility of quality 10s. I listen to all types of music so I have no issue going from metal to techno to rap to reggae, and if the wife decides country. Premium sound should be able to be loud AND clear. I used to run two Infinity 10s in my Mark IV GTI with Boston Acoustic components all around. Takes too much space for my R53 and the BA speakers dont fit right. So I'll be getting a JL Audio StealthBox, it runs one of their 10s and will definitely fill the small space with sound but not steal my minimal hatch space.

My advice, get the 10s but got to an audio shop that can custom fabricate the box. It's not as expensive as you might think and they can blend it into your R56 or make it flashy if you like people eyeballin your gear. Also a properly sized box will help sound and save speaker life.

I run a single 10". For me the 8" is too small for any real punch and most 12" are too "flubby" (my word).
Probably as much as size you should look for quality. All 8", 10", etc are NOT created equal.

I run a single 8" Alpine type R DVC in a sealed enclosure getting 400x1 at 2 ohms from a MRP-M450 and it is more than enough. Clearly it comes down to preference, but if you are only asking if it is sufficient to add depth and clarity on the low end, then I'd say I'm more than satisfied. I attacehd 2 pictures of the setup for reference. Good luck and I'd love to hear how it turns out.

Audison SRX5 5 channel amp

Very nice setup. I think I may have come across pictures in other threads too. Very clean! How is not having the back seat going? I have to throw my kids car seats back there once in a while, so deleting is not an option for me, but the useable space seems great!!

Yes. Lots of space. I keep my golf clubs. Two pair of golf shoes and several dozen golf ***** with me at a time plus keep the tunes. I am pretty happy with it as well as the seat delete.
