Rust? on my brakes. Need help!
Hi, I am a fairly new user to NAM i recently just bought a mini about month and a half ago. I Knew nothing about it when i purchased it, I found a lot of mods that were added onto it and such i made a post on it and i got some great help from the community. So if you are intrested in the car i am talking about i will share the link

Anyway getting to the topic:
I have noticed that my brakes? or something in that region appear to be rusty and was wondering how severe of a problem this is? if any and what should i do ?
Pictures provided:
Sorry for the cellphone pictures in advance :O

I have been washing my car at least once or twice a week and i always try to remove that rust with scrubbing but it just does not really change. Like i said i am only 19 and not very car savvy yet but i am learning so any help would be appreciated

Rotors are made of iron, they rust, even after just washing and sitting overnight. It's not a performance issue, just a visual one.
Just got a set of Centric rotors that are painted black on the 'hat' and edges, which looks nicer.

Oh that is a relief, So i have nothing to worry about then ;p i mean of course besides the look. But thankyou!
don't get creative and decide to just paint over that with rustoleum or something. Rotors can get VERY hot and you'll end up with burnt paint on there.
You can apply coatings but they need to be special high temperature coatings . . or just live with it until it is time for new rotors, then as mentioned look for ones coated in those areas . . .
Those may be stock MINI rotors ... they'll rust like that.

Most rotors look like that.....a fact of life unless you get ceramic rotors...available on some very $$$ cars as an option...very cool, but very $$$.some brands of rotors rust more/faster, but they are raw cast iron...like captbj mentioned, some have painted "hats" which help a bit...
