R50/53 Brake Rotor Replacement
What size is the Torx bolt that holds the rotor on on an 05 cooper S ?
you trying to cornfuse someone?
Been doing MINI brakes for folks for 10 years now .... my TORX-50 bit is a lil worn!
{ah ha .... Bram cross edited with me . . .}
Getting that TORX out on a GEN1 can be a bit** .... if you want suggestions, PM me
The brake rotor uses a T50 torx head though.

So then I welded the torx bit right to the bolt head. Once that was done, I worked on it another half hour or so before accidentally twisting the head right off the bolt.
I should've used a torch to loosen, but was afraid of overheating the wheel bearing.

this is a very attended well show in a particularly nice location. I'm pre-registered and will be there weather permitting. (I got caught in very heavy rain on the way home last year and it was NOT fun in a 79!)

I'll say. I worked one on mine for a couple hours to no avail and ended up stripping the torx head.
So then I welded the torx bit right to the bolt head. Once that was done, I worked on it another half hour or so before accidentally twisting the head right off the bolt.

My method:
1. Apply PB-Blaster liberally and give it 10 to 20 to soak in.
2. With a length of re-bar and two lug bolts wedge the hub so it can not rotate. ( visualize % )
3. With the T-50 on an 18 inch breaker bar I use one hand to press the socket firmly against the bolt while applying slow even pressure. If it does not come off with a good two UGH pull, I resoak and wait 10 more minutes
has not failed to get it loose by the second try and I've done GEN1 brakes for a dozen different cars.
As mentioned: When you put them back - anti-seize and you don't need 'em UGHd down. Just firm is enough. Saves your back next time.
