Shutter at idle

Hey guys wonder if you had any ideas about this. The car is a 2008 r56s It had a bit of a shutter at idle ( almost as if it was going to stall). I used some seafoam and the problem stop. Changed the oil and it is back. I was thinking I will clean the maf. But I just dont know what else to look into before taking it in.
Thanks

How many miles do you have on your car? Check the condition of your spark plugs.

I had a similar problem with my 2008. It was determined as the "Vanos" system which is BMW's term for "timing". Yesterday, I had the solenoid at the outlet replaced and a flush by the dealer and the car is fine. The dealers flush is similar to a Sea Foam, but, it is with BMW fluid which according to the dealer won't void any warranty. Mini dealers also sell a flush fluid for $10.00. It is recommended as it contains recognized ingredients.

Depending on mileage it might be time for a walnut blasting of your valves. The dealer can do this.

Car is around 53k. Guess I will start with the Plugs. How much does the walnut blasting range from. I remember it being pretty pricy

My car was doing the exact same thing, 2007 MCS with 68000 miles. Just had the walnut blast done 2 weeks ago and the problem is gone. The engine runs a lot smoother. Only paid $220 at a local BMW/Mini mechanic in So Cal.

Thanks for the replies guys! Will shop around for walnut blast. What mileage do y'all recommend changing the spark plugs? I got the car with 40k on it. Not sure if they have been done or not.

I think plugs are 50k and JCW is every 30k. Go with NKGs one step colder. If you got the money, replace the coil packs too.

Personally I change mine around 20k, but I do check them at 5k faithfully to make sure there are no issues.
