Possible to swap out chrome line interior for matte finish?

Hi,

Just about to buy a MINI and the local dealer has a car which is quite close to what I would want.

But I'm not much of a chrome look kind of guy.

So obviously the car I like has to have had that option added.

Does anyone know if it is possible to pop out the chrome trim rings and install the matte rings or are they pretty much a permanent part of whatever part of the car they are "trimming".

Thanks for any tips/info.

M./

I want to do the opposite. Anyone who can provide info would be much appreciated.

I've seen the "stick-on" chrome that covers the matte silver, but I'm not interested in that.

You can go to Sewell MINI's site or ECS tuning's site and order the parts to replace what you currently have.

Are you talking about first generation MINIs ? R50 R52 R53 or newer second Gen R56 R55 R57 +

For example:

First Gen R50 R52 R53 anthracite: Cup holder.

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/51167039238/

There was chrome , light silver, Gun metal ( for some trim ), and anthracite.

On R56 +

There was chrome, silver, and black. Cup holder trim example.

Let me know what you are looking for we are here to help.

Thanks

ECS,
Any way you could give me direction on how to remove the trim rings from the door panel? In particular the trim rings around the interior door latch......

A very thin trim toll can work them out. Plastic versions help save the interior from damage.

Schwaben trim tool:

You can slide a thin card in their or a very small flat head screwdriver.

what is the technique for removing them.....I tried the very thin flathead screwdriver as well as plastic pieces and still broke the trim ring. Should this go clockwise or counterclockwise or pull straight out?

The clips are at certain points, it does not matter, you have to find those points, get closest to them and slowly pry up. You can work it out form the easiest point they lift out. You have an R56 correct?

The main piece has that peg that needs to come out and the main pieces is bonded to that inner trim.
