Help: Need fix for loose Fog Light triggering bulb out warning?

Hi everyone,

My wife and I have a 2008 mini cooper hard top and are unfortunately selling it (need room for our growing family). We are getting a bulb out warning and I tracked it down to the passenger side fog lamp in the bumper. If I tap the fog light housing, the bulb pops on and the indicator goes off the next time I start the car. But then after a day, it comes loose again and the same thing happens. I've already removed the light from the housing through the bumper hole in the wheel arch and tried to tape the wires bent at the light joint thinking maybe it was a trip there but I still have the same issue. Has anyone had experience fixing this annoying issue? Thanks!

Could also have corrosion you might pull it and clean it up.

I believe a packet of this goo will help you out. I had one of my LED parking bulbs coming loose out of, put a little of this on the wedgebase and it no longer moves about.

Ah... see I for whatever reason bypassed the thought of changing the bulb as soon as I saw that the bulb wasn't actually burned out, didn't think about corrosion on the contacts

Will try this, thanks guys!

Had the same issue and used anti-seize because I had it. Works the same way and no more problem. Is yours the drivers side as well? Just curious.

I just changed the bulb, it looked like the bulb was like half burned out as it was half black but still was lighting up, never seen a bulb appear half burned out like that.

Actually it was the passenger side!

Very rare but I've seen the filament of a bulb burn & break but because of the orientation of the bulb and the way the end hangs make occasional contact . . . .

Always start with the easy stuff!!!!!

I had a tail light that was dong that awhile back. My son was driving the MINI and got pulled over for the light being out. When he got home I went out and checked it and t worked just fine. Took the bulb out an the filament wire was broken. Apparently depending on where the wire was when the lights were turned on determined if the light came on or not.

So changing the bulb solved your problem?
