3-Way? or 2-way tapped.......
I have the standard Mini Boost audio system (the one which pathetically does not have tweeters) and have installed HK Pillar Tweeters.
Does this convert the front channels into a 3-way setup?
Will I have issues with running an aftermarket HU with 4-channels? (read and understood other issues such as keeping original radio circuit board to preserve on-board computer)

I am in for the info on the pillar tweeters. Were they already powered by the boost HU?
I have a pair of boston 1" tweeters in my garage, but no crossover for them any more...
Thanks!

the tweeters work so they must be powered by the HU. all speakers work...
a 3 way setup would be low, mid, high and each frequency range would have its own passive or active x-over attached to the appropriate driver.
they could also be tri-amped when going active.
would adding a 3-way crossover help the situation if i changed the HU? I have an appradio unit coming in but i need to sort out this dilemma in case there's sound quality compromise due to this sub-3 speaker setup. if not then i guess i'll have to retire the mid-range and run the 6.5's and the tweeters....
thanks for the input. much appreciated.

I would check the specs on the appradio to see what xovers it has to be able to better understand what path it is you would need to take to reach the goals you are after. I would also recommend you do some sound treatments to your car while you are ripping the car apart.
will do, thanks again. probably will pass on the sound treatment; if i do it i won't simply dynamat everything as many do. i would go all out and use many different materials upon each other to create the best possible outcome, but due to the fact that the car relies somewhat substantially on weight for performance (especially when the mini have is a 1.4l) as well as the cost entitled with such a feat.......:(.
i think i'm just going to ditch the whole 3-way thing and retire the mid-range. i don't know how i am going to wire up the 2-way components i'm looking to install though..
