Infinity Kappa components

Has anyone upgraded their front speakers with Infinity Kappas? I've used them in another car and like the sound. Crutchfield says only the reference series 6 1/2" will fit (1 7/8" top mount depth). The Kappas are 1 15/16". That's 1/16" deeper. I'll probably use them with adapters from newministuff.com

It makes me wonder about Crutchfield because they say the Kappa 3-way 6x9's fit the rear but the 2-ways don't. The 2-ways are 1/16" shorter...

I was asking on another board about these just today. The only problem I see with them is the 2 ohm rating. Not a problem when used with an amp but I'm not sure about the stock headunit handling 2 ohm.

I too am a big fan of the Infinity from years ago.

Yeah, I noticed they went to 2 ohm with the Kappas. I'm planning on using an amp (probably 50w rms @ 2 ohm). My main worry is fitting them in the doors. I don't want to interfere with the window or hit the stock grill. I guess if I really wanted to know, I could take my old 63.3i's out of our other car and test fit them in the MINI after I get the speaker adapters. The 63.3's are over 2" deep and if the MINI can fit them, it will fit the new Kappa models.

Hrm... I have read that people who have been looking for replacement speakers for the Harman Kardon system where out of luck because they needed to be 2 ohm... Possibly a replacement speaker if needed for the HK folks?

Probably your only real option for replacing H/K speakers other than replacing them with the same OEM component.
