Passenger Windindow Won't Stay Up

Anyone else had either their driver or passenger side window go all the way up and then decide to ride 50% of the way back down?

Whereas I used to flip the toggle once and get it all the way up, now it comes halfway back down. It takes some playing with for me to manually stop it just shy of 100% up while still being enough to seal from rain.

I'm auto mechanically challenged, but I'd rather find a DIY solution. Anyone have similar problems?

Mine did that, and while there are some DIY fixes none of them worked for me and it required a computer reflash at the dealer to reset everything.

MINI has a service bulletin on this is issue.

Yes as stated above, you need to get your FRM module updated to fix this particular window issue. Some independent shops can do this if they have access to ISTA/P.

Try this procedure from the Bentley manual .
Close doors and windows
Switch ignition on
Move window approx half way down
Disconnect power to window motor - remove window motor fuse
Actuate power window switch several times to clear previous initialization
Reconnect window motor power - replace fuse
With window motor powered open window fully
After reaching lower position, move window without interruption to upper position and hold switch for at least 2 seconds in close position. This completes initialization.

Hope this works for you. Let us know

That procedure won't work when the window bounces to the half-open position.

it's a PITA problem -- get the dealer to re-program the windows. it takes a while.

some think that if you put the window all the way down (instead of half or part-way down), then up, will help keep the sensors calibrated.

Cycling the windows up and down fully was recommended in that is supposedly resets the counter that keeps track of the window position.

I've read a few other threads that this is a common problem and that going to the deal for reprogramming is the only fix. Do they charge for this, if so how much? My car is no longer under warranty and the passenger windows just started doing this.

My 12 mcs does this all the time to my driverside window, ive been to the dealer 5 times about this amd all they do is reprogram the computer which works for a few hours then does the same thing. Also my driverside window is noticeably slower than the passenger.

'11 MCS. I've experienced putting the window auto-up, only to have it come back down to 50%. Then one morning I walked out of the house to bring the car in to the dealer for a totally unrelated issue and found both windows all the way down. I mentioned this to my service advisor and he gave me a look like I had 3 heads. All they did was reset the window synchronization. I just picked the car up yesterday, so we'll see....

My driver side window is slower than the passenger as well.

Makes the old window cranks look pretty clever, doesn't it?
