Hello again. My 2nd post. I've had my mini for a little over a week. Today a yellow check engine light came on and is staying on. Also today the fan stays on a good 5 minutes after shutting the car down no matter what length of time I have driven. Coolant level seems fine. 2011 clubman s with 16,600 miles.

Any ideas?

Your wonderful thermostat!Happened to me around 23-24K miles. Time to take her in.

 

Thanks...I've made an appointment for next week. SA says it is often just the sensor and not even the thermostat. Says that would also cause the fan to keep running.

 

Yep, happened to me too around 17k mi then again at around 21k.

 

Yeah for me it wasn't the sensor since it was replaced under the recall. Mine was the crappy thermostat. Good luck and hopefully no more issues for you!
